Westerly Bulldogs (Westerly, RI) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Ponaganset Chieftains (North Scituate, RI), 48-47 in a league bout.

With the victory, Westerly upgrades its record to 3-4 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Barrington (Barrington, RI) to play the Eagles in a Division 1 bout on Thursday, January 11. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 5-5. Barrington won 60-30 in their recent league bout against Scituate (North Scituate, RI)

Next up, the Chieftains play the South Kingstown Rebels (Wakefield, RI) in a Division 1 bout, on Thursday, January 11. Ponaganset will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Rebels come into the bout with a 5-3 record after their 55-26 league loss to St. Mary Academy-Bay View (East Providence, RI).
