In Thursday's non-league contest, the host Walnut Wildcats basketball team scored a big 58-21 triumph over the Blue Mountain Cougars.
The Wildcats (10-6) will now prepare for their contest against East Union (Blue Springs, MS). The Urchins go into the 2A Region 1 contest with a 13-4 record. In their last contest, East Union was trounced by Ingomar (New Albany, MS), 53-44, in a non-league contest.
In their next game, the Cougars battle the Jumpertown Cardinals (Booneville, MS) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, January 14. Blue Mountain will attempt to better on its 2-12 season record. The Cardinals go into the contest with a 6-13 record after their 64-17 non-league loss to Wheeler (Wheeler, MS).
