Monessen Greyhounds (Monessen, PA) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the host Burgettstown Blue Devils (Burgettstown, PA), 40-21 in a league battle.

With the win, Monessen improves its record to 5-3 on the season. The Greyhounds host Bishop Canevin (Pittsburgh, PA) to play the Crusaders in a WPIAL A Black Hills battle on Friday, October 17. The Crusaders go into the battle with a record of 5-2. Bishop Canevin lost 56-19 in their recent league battle against Fort Cherry (McDonald, PA)

The Blue Devils now have a 1-6 record. They play next when they travel to Serra Catholic for a WPIAL A Black Hills test on Friday, October 17. Burgettstown will meet a Eagles squad coming off a 34-0 league loss to Chartiers-Houston (Houston, PA). The Eagles record now stands at 1-7.
