The Florence Gophers felled the host Shadow Mountain Matadors football team by a score of 30-12 in Friday's non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Gophers play the Sabino Sabercats (Tucson, AZ) in a 3A East challenge, on Friday, October 17. Florence will attempt to improve on its 3-4 season record. The Sabercats come into the test with a 3-4 record after their 27-8 league loss to Pusch Ridge Christian Academy (Tucson, AZ).

With the defeat, Shadow Mountain drops to 3-5 on the campaign. The Matadors host Wickenburg (Wickenburg, AZ) to meet the Wranglers in a 3A West test on Thursday, October 16. The Wranglers come into the test with a record of 0-7. Wickenburg lost 71-0 in their recent league test against River Valley (Mohave Valley, AZ)
