In Friday's league game, the West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) football team edged the visiting Starmount Rams (Boonville, NC), by a tally of 23-20.

In their next game, the Blackhawks face the Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC) in a Mountain Valley 2A/3A/4A game, on Friday, October 17. West Wilkes will attempt to better on its 4-3 season record.
