In Saturday's non-league challenge, the visiting Lawrence Free State Firebirds volleyball team scored a 2-0 triumph over the Schlagle Stallions.

The Firebirds (16-12) will now prepare for their challenge against Shawnee Mission South (Shawnee Mission, KS). The Raiders come into the Sunflower challenge with a 4-15 record. In their last challenge, Shawnee Mission South beat Perry-Lecompton (Perry, KS), 2-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Stallions meet the Washington Wildcats (Kansas City, KS) in a Meadowlark challenge, on Tuesday, October 14. Schlagle will attempt to improve on its 1-7 season record. The Wildcats go into the test with a 5-15 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Paola (Paola, KS).
