In Saturday's non-league challenge, the host Sylmar Spartans volleyball team scored a 2-0 victory over the Arleta Mustangs.

The Spartans (16-17) will now prepare for their challenge against Fulton (Van Nuys, CA). The Jaguars enter the non-league challenge with a 8-6 record. In their last challenge, Fulton beat East Valley (North Hollywood, CA), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Mustangs meet the Carson Colts (Carson, CA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, October 12. Arleta will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record. The Colts enter the challenge with a 6-9 record after their 3-0 league win over Rancho Dominguez (Long Beach, CA).
