In Tuesday's league challenge, the visiting Southwestern Piasa Birds volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Vandalia Vandals.

The Piasa Birds (12-17) will now prepare for their challenge against Metro-East Lutheran (Edwardsville, IL). The Knights come into the non-league challenge with a 5-21 record. In their last challenge, Metro-East Lutheran was nudged by Althoff Catholic (Belleville, IL), 2-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Vandals meet the Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL) in a South Central challenge, on Thursday, October 17. Vandalia will attempt to upgrade on its 5-22 season record. The Miners come into the challenge with a 7-20 record after their 2-0 league loss to Staunton (Staunton, IL).
