The Watauga Pioneers were victorious over the visiting Alexander Central Cougars football team by a tally of 28-16 in Thursday's league game.

In their next game, the Pioneers face the McDowell Titans (Marion, NC) in a non-league game, on Thursday, October 23. Watauga will attempt to better on its 7-0 season record. The Titans enter the game with a 1-6 record after their 40-0 non-league loss to St. Stephens (Hickory, NC).

The Cougars (4-4) will now prepare for their game against Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Patriots enter the game with a 4-3 record. In their last game, Freedom achieved victory over South Caldwell (Hudson, NC), 38-32, in a non-league outing.
