Fans at Thursday's non-league battle between the Slippery Rock Rockets (Slippery Rock, PA) and the host Mercer Mustangs (Mercer, PA), saw Slippery Rock's soccer squad hold off Mercer by a count of 1-0.
The Rockets (14-3) will now prepare for their battle against Hickory (Hermitage, PA). The Hornets come into the District 10 Region 2 match with a 12-5 record. In their last match, Hickory was tipped by Harbor Creek (Harborcreek, PA), 1-0, in a non-league match.
The Mustangs now sport a 11-6 record. They take the field next when they host Iroquois for a non-league match on Monday, October 20. Mercer will meet a Braves team coming off a 2-1 league win over Saegertown (Saegertown, PA). The Braves record now stands at 9-8.
