The Carthage Bulldogs (Carthage, TX) football tipped the visiting Athens Hornets (Athens, TX), 61-56 in Friday's league outing.

The Bulldogs now sport a 7-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bullard for a 4A-2 Region II District 8 outing on Friday, October 24. Carthage will clash with a Panthers squad coming off a 44-27 league loss to Center (Center, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 3-4.

With the defeat, Athens drops to 5-2 on the campaign. The Hornets host Rusk (Rusk, TX) to battle the Eagles in a 4A-2 Region II District 8 contest on Friday, October 24. The Eagles enter the contest with a record of 1-6. Rusk won 28-21 in their recent league contest against Brownsboro (Brownsboro, TX)
