The Wahlert Golden Eagles (Dubuque, IA) football tipped the host Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA), 23-21 in Friday's league outing.
The Golden Eagles now sport a 5-3 record. They take the field next when they host Maquoketa for a 3A District 3 outing on Friday, October 24. Wahlert will clash with a Cardinals squad coming off a 56-14 league loss to Central DeWitt (DeWitt, IA). The Cardinals record now stands at 1-7.
The Mustangs (5-3) will now prepare for their game against Assumption (Davenport, IA). The Knights enter the 3A District 3 game with a 5-3 record. In their last game, Assumption held off Center Point-Urbana (Center Point, IA), 28-0, in a league game.
