In Friday's non-league challenge, the host Newman Greenies volleyball team scored a close 2-1 victory over the Assumption Mustangs.
The Greenies (19-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Notre Dame (Crowley, LA). The Pioneers enter the non-league challenge with a 9-8 record. In their last test, Notre Dame nudged Vinton (Vinton, LA), 3-0, in a league test.
The Mustangs now own a 15-16 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Northshore for a non-league test on Saturday, October 18. Assumption will play a Panthers team coming off a 3-1 league win over Mandeville (Mandeville, LA). The Panthers record now stands at 16-9.
