The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Santa Maria Cougars (Santa Maria, TX) and the host Freer Buckaroos (Freer, TX), witnessed Santa Maria's football squad knock off Freer by a tally of 40-27.

The Cougars (6-1) will now prepare for their contest against Skidmore-Tynan (Skidmore, TX). The Bobcats enter the 2A-1 Region IV District 16 contest with a 1-6 record. In their last contest, Skidmore-Tynan gained a win over Kaufer (Riviera, TX), 46-6, in a league contest.

Coming up next, the Buckaroos battle the Refugio Bobcats (Refugio, TX) in a 2A-1 Region IV District 16 contest, on Friday, October 25. Freer will attempt to better on its 4-4 season record. The Bobcats enter the contest with a 6-1 record after their 68-0 league win over Santa Maria (Santa Maria, TX).
