The Newport Cubs football squad scored 21 points and limited the host Scio Loggers to 12 in the Cubs league triumph on Friday.
The Cubs now hold a 2-5 record. They take the field next when they host Taft for a 3A Special District 2 test on Friday, October 25. Newport will meet a Tigers squad coming off a 49-22 league win over Amity (Amity, OR). The Tigers record now stands at 6-1.
With the defeat, Scio drops to 1-6 on the campaign. The Loggers travel to Santiam Christian (Corvallis, OR) to meet the Eagles in a 3A Special District 2 test on Friday, October 25. The Eagles come into the test with a record of 6-1. Santiam Christian won 35-12 in their recent league test against Dayton (Dayton, OR)
