The Thoreau Hawks walloped the visiting Zuni Thunderbirds football team by a score of 50-0 in Friday's league challenge.
In their next game, the Hawks play the Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM) in a 3A District 1 challenge, on Thursday, October 24. Thoreau will attempt to improve on its 6-2 season record. The Bears go into the challenge with a 2-7 record after their 54-0 league loss to Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM).
The Thunderbirds (2-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Shiprock (Shiprock, NM). The Chieftains go into the 3A District 1 challenge with a 0-7 record. In their last challenge, Shiprock was ripped by Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM), 24-0, in a league challenge.
