The Fighting Cardinals (32-1) will now prepare for their contest against Effingham (Effingham, IL). The Hearts enter the non-league contest with a 17-11 record. In their last contest, Effingham was beaten by Mahomet-Seymour (Mahomet, IL), 2-0, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Eagles encounter the Edwards County Lions (Albion, IL) in a non-league test, on Saturday, October 18. Newton will attempt to improve on its 15-14 season record. The Lions go into the test with a 25-2 record after their 2-0 league win over Hamilton County (McLeansboro, IL).
