In Monday's non-league battle, the host Mecklenburg County Phoenix volleyball team scored a 3-1 triumph over the Amelia County Raiders.
The Phoenix (11-2) will now prepare for their battle against Halifax County (South Boston, VA). The Comets come into the Piedmont battle with a 9-8 record. In their last battle, Halifax County lost by Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA), 3-0, in a league battle.
Next, the Raiders encounter the Nottoway Cougars (Nottoway, VA) in a James River battle, on Tuesday, October 3. Amelia County will attempt to advance on its 10-2 season record. The Cougars come into the battle with a 5-5 record after their 3-0 league win over Prince Edward County (Farmville, VA).
