In Wednesday's non-league challenge, the host Linganore Lancers volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Smithsburg Leopards.

The Lancers (7-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Urbana (Ijamsville, MD). The Hawks come into the MVAL - Piedmont challenge with a 7-2 record. In their last challenge, Urbana edged Tuscarora (Frederick, MD), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Leopards play the Williamsport Wildcats (Williamsport, MD) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, October 7. Smithsburg will attempt to upgrade on its 8-4 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 5-2 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to North Hagerstown (Hagerstown, MD).
