Fans at Thursday's non-league battle between the South-Doyle Cherokees (Knoxville, TN) and the host Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes (Morristown, TN), saw South-Doyle's soccer squad hold off Morristown-Hamblen East by a count of 1-0.
The Cherokees (5-5) will now prepare for their battle against Roane County (Kingston, TN). The Yellowjackets enter the AA District 5 battle with a 9-2 record. In their last battle, Roane County nipped Loudon (Loudon, TN), 4-2, in a league match.
The Hurricanes now sport a 2-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Sevier County for a AAA District 2 match on Tuesday, October 14. Morristown-Hamblen East will meet a Smoky Bears team coming off a 4-0 non-league win over Carter (Strawberry Plains, TN). The Smoky Bears record now stands at 13-3.
