In Friday's league game, the Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM) football team smashed the host Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM), by a final score of 40-6.
The Skyhawks (4-5) will now prepare for their game against Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM). The Eagles come into the 3A District 1 game with a 4-5 record. In their last game, Navajo Prep overwhelmed Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM), 32-20, in a league game.
The Thunderbirds now hold a 2-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Tohatchi for a 3A District 1 game on Friday, October 27. Zuni will battle a Cougars team coming off a 32-20 league loss to Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM). The Cougars record now stands at 3-6.
