The Avery County Vikings held off the host Owen Warhorses football team by a count of 45-38 in Friday's league outing.

With the win, Avery County upgrades its record to 3-6 on the season. The Vikings host Mitchell (Bakersville, NC) to confront the Mountaineers in a 1A/2A West Conference 42 outing on Friday, October 28. The Mountaineers go into the outing with a record of 6-3. Mitchell won 56-6 in their recent league outing against Rosman (Rosman, NC)

With the loss, Owen moves to 1-8 on the season. The Warhorses travel to Madison (Marshall, NC) to confront the Patriots in a 1A/2A West Conference 42 outing on Friday, October 28. The Patriots go into the outing with a record of 2-7. Madison lost 35-20 in their recent league outing against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC)
