The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans football team (Waynesboro, GA), was knocked off 38-28 in Friday's non-league challenge with the visiting Gatewood Gators (Eatonton, GA)

The Gators (4-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Piedmont Academy (Monticello, GA). The Cougars come into the GIAA AA Region 2 challenge with a 1-7 record. In their last challenge, Piedmont Academy was knocked off by Brentwood (Sandersville, GA), 48-12, in a league challenge.

The Spartans now sport a 4-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Augusta Prep Day for a GIAA AA Region 4 challenge on Friday, October 28. Edmund Burke Academy will meet a Cavaliers team coming off a 21-14 league loss to Briarwood Academy (Warrenton, GA). The Cavaliers record now stands at 3-5.
