    • Virginia High School Football - Alleghany gets by Riverheads

    October 24, 2025: Staunton, VA 24401

    Alleghany Cougars (Covington, VA) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team tip the host Riverheads Gladiators (Staunton, VA), 36-29 in a league battle.

    With the win, Alleghany improves its record to 7-1 on the season. The Cougars host Fort Defiance (Fort Defiance, VA) to meet the Indians in a Shenandoah match on Friday, October 31. The Indians come into the match with a record of 4-4. Fort Defiance won 54-7 in their recent league match against Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA)

    Coming up next, the Gladiators meet the Staunton Storm (Staunton, VA) in a Shenandoah match, on Friday, October 31. Riverheads will attempt to upgrade on its 4-4 season record. The Storm come into the match with a 3-5 record after their 42-7 league loss to Wilson Memorial (Fishersville, VA).
