    The crowd at Friday's league contest between the West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) and the host Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), saw West Wilkes's football team gain a win over Ashe County by a final score of 34-6.

    With the win, West Wilkes advances its record to 6-3 on the season. The Blackhawks host North Wilkes (Hays, NC) to play the Vikings in a Mountain Valley 2A/3A/4A battle on Friday, October 31. The Vikings go into the battle with a record of 4-5. North Wilkes lost 42-12 in their recent league battle against Alleghany (Sparta, NC)
