In Friday's league game, the Emerson Mavericks (McKinney, TX) football team edged the visiting Melissa Cardinals (Melissa, TX), by a tally of 38-35.

In their next game, the Mavericks battle the Independence Knights (Frisco, TX) in a 5A-2 Region I District 4 game, on Friday, November 1. Emerson will attempt to better on its 6-3 season record. The Knights enter the game with a 2-6 record after their 75-6 league loss to Melissa (Melissa, TX).

The Cardinals (5-3) will now prepare for their game against Walnut Grove (Prosper, TX). The Wildcats enter the 5A-2 Region I District 4 game with a 7-1 record. In their last game, Walnut Grove held off Lovejoy (Lucas, TX), 41-37, in a league game.
