The Shiprock Chieftains football squad scored 44 points and limited the host Zuni Thunderbirds to 14 in the Chieftains league triumph on Friday.

The Chieftains now hold a 1-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gallup for a 3A District 1 test on Friday, November 1. Shiprock will meet a Bengals squad coming off a 50-8 league loss to Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM). The Bengals record now stands at 1-8.

With the defeat, Zuni drops to 2-7 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds host Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM) to meet the Cougars in a 3A District 1 test on Thursday, October 31. The Cougars come into the test with a record of 6-3. Tohatchi won 47-0 in their recent non-league test against Santa Fe Indian (Santa Fe, NM)
