The Ganesha Giants edged the host Magnolia Science Academy Pirates volleyball squad by a final score of 3-2 in Saturday's non-league game.
Next up, the Giants face the Arroyo Valley Hawks (San Bernardino, CA) in a non-league game, on Wednesday, October 30. Ganesha will attempt to advance on its 13-12 season record. The Hawks go into the game with a 9-11 record after their 3-1 non-league win over Packinghouse Christian Academy (Redlands, CA).
Match Summary
The Pirates entered the second round of CIF with high hopes. They started off with a very convincing first set. Although leading most of the second set, Ganesha rallied and earned the second set. Ganesha utilized their momentum from the third set to win the second set. In the fourth set, the Pirates rallied and came up with a huge lead. Unfortunately, starting outside hitter and senior Anel Garcia sustained an injury. Freshman Katheryn Carpio relieved her, and the team held on just enough to win the fourth set. In the last set, Ganesha took a huge, early lead and never looked back, defeating the Pirates in five, hard-fought sets.
