In Friday's league match, the host Abilene Eagles football squad scored a good 24-14 victory over the Amarillo Sandies.

The Sandies (4-5) will now prepare for their match against Monterey (Lubbock, TX). The Plainsmen enter the 5A-1 Region I District 2 match with a 4-5 record. In their last match, Monterey thwarted Coronado (Lubbock, TX), 14-7, in a league match.
