Fans at Thursday's league battle between the Robert C. Byrd Eagles (Clarksburg, WV) and the visiting Preston Knights (Kingwood, WV), saw Robert C. Byrd's soccer squad hold off Preston by a count of 1-0.

The Eagles (5-9) will now prepare for their battle against Grafton (Grafton, WV). The Bearcats enter the Big Ten battle with a 10-4 record. In their last battle, Grafton tipped Lewis County (Weston, WV), 3-1, in a league battle.

Next up, the Knights battle the Southern Rams (Oakland, MD) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, October 5. Preston will attempt to upgrade on its 4-7 season record. The Rams enter the battle with a 1-8 record after their 7-0 league loss to Mountain Ridge (Frostburg, MD).
