In Thursday's non-league challenge, the host Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy Phoenix volleyball team scored a close 3-2 victory over the Putnam Clippers.

The Phoenix (8-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Bolton (Bolton, CT). The Bulldogs enter the non-league challenge with a 3-9 record. In their last challenge, Bolton was tipped by Ellington (Ellington, CT), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Clippers meet the New London Whalers (New London, CT) in a Eastern Connecticut - Small challenge, on Wednesday, October 9. Putnam will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record. The Whalers enter the challenge with a 1-12 record after their 3-0 league loss to Wheeler (North Stonington, CT).
