Fans at Thursday's non-league contest between the Somonauk Bobcats (Somonauk, IL) and the visiting Mendota Trojans (Mendota, IL), observed Somonauk's volleyball team hold off Mendota by a count of 2-1.

The Bobcats (7-8) will now prepare for their contest against Newark (Newark, IL). The Norsemen enter the Little Ten contest with a 14-7 record. In their last contest, Newark got by Earlville (Earlville, IL), 2-0, in a league contest.

Next, the Trojans battle the Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) in a Three Rivers contest, on Tuesday, October 8. Mendota will attempt to move on its 4-14 season record. The Comets enter the contest with a 2-18 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Pecatonica (Pecatonica, IL).
