In Friday's league game, the Downey Vikings (Downey, CA) football team overcame the host Mayfair Monsoons (Lakewood, CA), by a tally of 33-14.

In their next game, the Vikings battle the La Mirada Matadores (La Mirada, CA) in a Gateway game, on Friday, October 10. Downey will attempt to better on its 5-1 season record. The Matadores enter the game with a 2-4 record after their 27-13 league loss to Warren (Downey, CA).
