Illinois High School Football - Southwestern loses to Gillespie

Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL) boosters were content Friday as they observed their football squad thwart the visiting Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL), 36-6 in a league match.

The Miners (2-4) will now prepare for their match against Greenville (Greenville, IL). The Comets come into the South Central match with a 3-3 record. In their last match, Greenville was beaten by Vandalia (Vandalia, IL), 28-18, in a league match.

Coming up next, the Piasa Birds confront the Carlinville Cavaliers (Carlinville, IL) in a South Central match, on Friday, October 10. Southwestern will attempt to upgrade on its 1-5 season record. The Cavaliers come into the match with a 5-1 record after their 48-35 league win over Litchfield/Mt. Olive (Litchfield, IL).
