The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Shelby County Rockets (Shelbyville, KY) and the host Holmes Bulldogs (Covington, KY), witnessed Shelby County's football squad topple Holmes by a count of 18-8.

The Rockets (1-6) will now prepare for their contest against Spencer County (Taylorsville, KY). The Bears enter the 4A District 4 contest with a 4-3 record. In their last contest, Spencer County was outscored by Franklin County (Frankfort, KY), 34-33, in a league contest.

Coming up next, the Bulldogs confront the Ohio County Eagles (Hartford, KY) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, October 11. Holmes will attempt to advance on its 1-5 season record. The Eagles go into the battle with a 0-7 record after their 48-13 non-league loss to Grayson County (Leitchfield, KY).
