In Friday's non-league match, the host Monroe Academy Volunteers football squad scored a close 20-18 triumph over the Patrician Academy Saints.
The Volunteers (6-0) will now prepare for their match against Fort Dale Academy (Greenville, AL). The Eagles come into the AISA AAA Region 2 match with a 5-2 record. In their last match, Fort Dale Academy tipped Banks Academy (Birmingham, AL), 22-18, in a non-league match.
Coming up next, the Saints meet the Wilcox Academy Wildcats (Camden, AL) in a AISA AA Region 2 match, on Thursday, October 10. Patrician Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 5-1 season record. The Wildcats come into the match with a 4-1 record after their 34-0 non-league win over Escambia Academy (Atmore, AL).
