Fans at Saturday's non-league contest between the Burr Oak Bobcats (Burr Oak, MI) and the host Mackinac Island Lakers (Mackinac Island, MI), observed Burr Oak's volleyball team hold off Mackinac Island by a tally of 2-1.

The Bobcats (11-2) will now prepare for their contest against Mendon (Mendon, MI). The Hornets enter the non-league contest with a 21-3 record. In their last contest, Mendon got by St. Philip Catholic Central (Battle Creek, MI), 3-1, in a non-league contest.

Next, the Lakers meet the Maplewood Baptist Academy Black Bears (Kinross, MI) in a Northern Lights contest, on Saturday, October 5. Mackinac Island will attempt to upgrade on its 11-4 season record. The Black Bears enter the contest with a 3-8 record after their 3-2 non-league win over Big Bay de Noc (Cooks, MI).
