In Saturday's non-league challenge, the host Sam Houston Broncos volleyball team scored a 2-0 triumph over the Byrd Yellow Jackets.

The Broncos (20-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Sulphur (Sulphur, LA). The Golden Tors come into the non-league challenge with a 19-11 record. In their last challenge, Sulphur beat Houma Christian (Houma, LA), 2-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Yellow Jackets meet the Dutchtown Griffins (Geismar, LA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, October 5. Byrd will attempt to upgrade on its 17-7 season record. The Griffins come into the challenge with a 14-3 record after their 3-0 league win over Denham Springs (Denham Springs, LA).
