In Saturday's non-league challenge, the visiting Shepard Astros volleyball team scored a 2-0 triumph over the De La Salle Meteors.

The Astros (14-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Thornton Fractional North (Calumet City, IL). The Meteors come into the South Suburban challenge with a 10-14 record. In their last challenge, Thornton Fractional North beat Thornwood (South Holland, IL), 2-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Meteors meet the Chicago Washington Patriots (Chicago, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, October 5. De La Salle will attempt to upgrade on its 8-14 season record. The Patriots come into the challenge with a 4-12 record after their 2-1 league loss to Whitney Young (Chicago, IL).
