Match Summary
In a contest capping LEAD Academy's Spirit Week, the Phoenix Varsity girls faced an uproarious student-body crowd. The gym was packed with Lions' fans and the din was deafening. Our shorthanded team played with two varsity age players and only one extra player on the bench. We gave up an 11 point run to kick off the match and never scored a point off our own serve in the set. Things improved slightly in the second and third set, but our hapless team could never get it's footing. We had no blocking and little offensive pressure. Our passing and hitting were poor, and we were constantly putting balls close to the net. We also struggled with poor communication, were letting balls hit the ground without contact and were hesitating on some of the passes we did hit, causing poor passes.
