    The San Diego Vaqueros football squad scored 28 points and restricted the host Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions to 10 in the Vaqueros league victory on Friday.

    The Vaqueros now possess a 5-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Lyford for a 3A-1 Region IV District 16 battle on Friday, October 14. San Diego will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 26-22 league loss to Falfurrias (Falfurrias, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-2.

    Coming up next, the Lions face the Rio Hondo Bobcats (Rio Hondo, TX) in a 3A-1 Region IV District 16 battle, on Friday, October 14. Santa Gertrudis Academy will attempt to advance on its 4-2 season record. The Bobcats enter the battle with a 2-4 record after their 63-0 league win over Progreso (Progreso, TX).
