The crowd at Saturday's non-league bout between the Essex Trojans (Essex, IA) and the host East Union Eagles (Afton, IA), saw Essex's volleyball squad nip East Union by a tally of 2-1.

With the win, Essex upgrades its record to 5-15 on the year. The Trojans host Sidney (Sidney, IA) to play the Cowboys in a Corner bout on Monday, October 16. The Cowboys go into the bout with a record of 16-6.

The Eagles now own a 6-16 record. They play next when they travel to Central Decatur for a Pride of Iowa bout on Saturday, October 7. East Union will play a Cardinals squad coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to Grand View Christian (Des Moines, IA). The Cardinals record now stands at 2-9.
