In Monday's non-league challenge, the visiting Valley Central Vikings volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks.

The Vikings (9-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Washingtonville (Washingtonville, NY). The Wizards come into the Section 9 Orange County II challenge with a 6-9 record. In their last challenge, Washingtonville was nudged by Minisink Valley (Slate Hill, NY), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Goldbacks play the Middletown Middie Bears (Middletown, NY) in a Section 9 Orange County I challenge, on Wednesday, October 9. Newburgh Free Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 7-6 season record. The Middie Bears come into the challenge with a 1-13 record after their 3-0 league loss to Pine Bush (Pine Bush, NY).
