Fans at Tuesday's non-league contest between the Shallowater Mustangs (Shallowater, TX) and the visiting Abilene Eagles (Abilene, TX), observed Shallowater's volleyball team hold off Abilene by a count of 3-2.

The Mustangs (23-9) will now prepare for their contest against Tulia (Tulia, TX). The Hornets enter the 3A Region I District 2 contest with a 7-13 record. In their last contest, Tulia was tipped by Idalou (Idalou, TX), 3-0, in a league contest.

Next, the Eagles battle the Memorial Mavericks (Wichita Falls, TX) in a 5A Region I District 4 contest, on Friday, October 10. Abilene will attempt to move on its 17-13 season record. The Mavericks enter the contest with a 25-6 record after their 3-2 league loss to Wylie (Abilene, TX).
