The Benton Cardinals edged the host Lafayette Fighting Irish softball squad by a count of 2-1 in Tuesday's league challenge.

Next, the Cardinals play the Stanberry Bulldogs (Stanberry, MO) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, October 10. Benton will attempt to upgrade on its 16-8 season record. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a 8-14 record after their 16-2 non-league loss to Lafayette (St. Joseph, MO).

The Fighting Irish (15-18) will now prepare for their challenge against Park Hill South (Riverside, MO). The Panthers enter the non-league challenge with a 11-19 record. In their last challenge, Park Hill South was nudged by Liberty North (Liberty, MO), 11-10, in a non-league challenge.
