In Saturday's non-league match, the New Kent Trojans (New Kent, VA) volleyball squad overcame the visiting Meridian Mustangs (Falls Church, VA), by a margin of 3-1.
The Trojans now possess a 20-4 record. They play next when they travel to Christiansburg for a non-league bout on Tuesday, November 18. New Kent will clash with a Blue Demons team coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Alleghany (Covington, VA). The Blue Demons record now stands at 27-0.
With the loss, Meridian drops to 17-8 on the campaign.

The New Kent Lady Trojans advance to the VHSL Class 3 State Semifinals by beating the Mustangs of Meridian HS of Falls Church, VA 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-17. Meridan played a tremendous defensive game, digging the NK attacks time and again to extend the rally. Over the course of the four sets, NK had 54 attack Ks to Meridian's 32, 12 aces to the Mustang's 9, and 6 blocks to Meridian's 4. Offensive leaders for NK included Leah Rounds with 18 Ks and 2 aces, Carly Sachs with 12 Ks and 5 aces, Ryan Griffith and Reagan Hailey-Robinson with 9 Ks each. Defensinve leaders at the net included Hailey-Robinson with 3 blocks, Sachs, Rounds, and Brielle Perry with 2 each, and Ava Nieto with one. Sachs led the floor defense with 13 digs, while Desi Stowe contributed 11 digs, Hannah Sachs and Carina Dolci added 8 each, and Rounds added 7 digs. Stowe led the setters with 23 assists while Perry contributed 22. New Kent, now ranked #2 in Class 3 by MaxPreps, will play #1 Christiansburg on Tuesday at 6.
