Edwards County Lions (Albion, IL) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Cumberland Pirates (Toledo, IL), 44-31 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Edwards County upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Lions travel to Lawrenceville (Lawrenceville, IL) to play the Indians in a non-league bout on Monday, November 20. The Indians go into the bout with a record of 0-1. Lawrenceville lost 59-45 in their recent non-league bout against Carmi-White County (Carmi, IL)

Next up, the Pirates play the Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg (Windsor, IL) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, November 21. Cumberland will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The go into the bout with a 1-2 record after their 48-29 non-league loss to Sullivan (Sullivan, IL).
