Mississippi High School Basketball - Newton nips Port Gibson

November 20, 2023: Newton, MS 39345

Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Port Gibson Blue Waves (Port Gibson, MS), 30-26 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Newton upgrades its record to 2-2 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Southeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Friday, December 1. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 1-2.

Next up, the Blue Waves play the Lanier Bulldogs (Jackson, MS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, November 21. Port Gibson will attempt to upgrade on its 3-3 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 1-6 record after their 56-44 non-league loss to Pearl (Pearl, MS).
