Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Port Gibson Blue Waves (Port Gibson, MS), 50-40 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Newton upgrades its record to 1-2 on the season. The Tigers travel to Leake Central (Carthage, MS) to play the Gators in a non-league bout on Tuesday, November 22. The Gators go into the bout with a record of 1-2.
Next up, the Blue Waves play the South Pike Eagles (Magnolia, MS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, November 29. Port Gibson will attempt to upgrade on its 5-2 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 2-4 record after their 55-43 non-league loss to Harrison Central (Gulfport, MS).
