Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) and the host South Beloit Sobos (South Beloit, IL), saw Newman Central Catholic's basketball squad hold off South Beloit by a tally of 53-46.
With the victory, Newman Central Catholic improves its record to 4-0 on the campaign. The Comets travel to Princeton (Princeton, IL) to confront the Tigers in a Three Rivers - East challenge on Tuesday, November 28. The Tigers come into the challenge with a record of 1-1. Princeton won 66-46 in their recent non-league challenge against Marengo (Marengo, IL)
Next up, the Sobos confront the Hiawatha Hawks (Kirkland, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, November 28. South Beloit will attempt to improve on its 3-1 season record. The Hawks come into the challenge with a 1-3 record after their 58-50 non-league loss to LaMoille (LaMoille, IL).
